Catalysis Using Enzymes in Pineapple
Factors affecting enzymes activity

Introduction:
Enzymes are any of numerous proteins or conjugated proteins produced by living organisms and functioning as biochemical catalysts. Enzymes can be extracted from plants and many animal parts.

There are many different types of enzymes with different properties, so some may be a better catalyst for a certain chemical reaction than others.

Because of the importance of enzymes, we need to know about the factors that may modify the effects of enzymes.

For example we need to know if heat, light or acids may alter the enzyme activity and stop its effects.

 Project description:
In this project you will study the effect of heat on a specific enzyme. Similar procedures can be used to test the effect of UV light, Enzyme concentration and pH. You start by gathering information about enzymes and where they can be found. You will then gather some enzymes specially from pineapple and test them in the reaction of decomposition of hydrogen peroxide or hydrolysis of certain proteins.
