Genetic Studies,
family studies on inheritance |
|
|
|
Introduction:
Genetic studies can be performed
to identify the effect of a gene on properties and characteristics of
any organism. (A gene is a hereditary unit that occupies a specific
location on a chromosome and determines a particular
characteristic in an organism.) We may perform genetic studies on
humans, animals, plants and even bacteria. Every genetic study will
focus on a different characteristic of the subject. Genetic
studies on hair color and facial features such as eye color and
shape of the ears are among genetic studies that can be performed on
humans and can be conducted by Intermediate or senior
students. |

Project
description:
The general purpose of doing these experiments is to understand the
effect of genes on certain characteristics of humans and compare it with
other environmental factors that may have a similar effect. You will
decide on the characteristics that will be the subject of your study and
then gather information. You will finally compile the results and
draw a conclusion.
