Introduction:
The word "tides" is a generic term used to define the
alternating rise and fall in sea level with respect to the land,
produced by the gravitational attraction of the moon and the
sun. To a much smaller extent, tides also occur in large lakes,
the atmosphere, and within the solid crust of the earth, which are
all acted
upon by these same gravitational forces of the moon and sun.

Material and instructions:
Investigate about tides,
how and when they happen? What are the benefits of learning about tides? Find out what are the world's highest tides and why? Can
you predict tides and their heights? Can we use tidal power to
generate electricity? Do tides vary at different seasons or different
days of the month? Do tides happen at the same time every day?
In this project you will make a model
to display tides. You may also construct a tide gauge. You may finally
record the tides at a certain coast and use your data table to draw a
graph. Material needed for this project can be found at home or obtained
locally.
